Harry came to Stride when we were first established, and since then has came a long way. Harry has Autism, and has had various struggles around this, linked mostly to communication / social contexts. Harry is a budding photographer, and an exceptionally talented one at that, check out ‘https://facebook.com/Theskysthelimitphotography5’. Harry has also done most of the photography for our website.
When harry came to us he was struggling in a job where he felt under-valued and misunderstood, he was hardly getting any shifts either. Harry had previously had various voluntary positions that didn’t work out. Harry wanted to be sociable, and have a group of friends, a work environment, should and could be a great area that he could achieve this.
This is exactly what happened in this case, Harry got our support to start working at The Hub, and has since then made a really great group of friends that he sees socially (outside of work). Harry feels valued in his job, works four days per week and has a great internal support network, as well as understanding from management.
Stride are also helping Harry to boost his photography business, through our mentoring service. Harry has great photography skills, but the customer facing side of this career can be a challenge, Harry is however getting more confident with this every day, and his job at The Hub also helps him with this.
