Neurodiversity Training

Do you (or somebody that you are enquiring about) have Autism, a Learning Disability, or another neurodivergent condition?

Our Approach

Neurodiversity is an essential part of workplace diversity. People think, communicate, learn and process information differently, and those differences can bring valuable strengths to any organisation. Stride works with employers to recognise those strengths, reduce unnecessary barriers and create better experiences for both employees and customers, whether they identify as neurodivergent or not.

Our training goes beyond autism awareness. We explore a wide range of neurodivergent conditions and disabilities, including ADHD, dyslexia, dyspraxia, dyscalculia and Tourette’s, while recognising that every person’s experience is different. We look at how neurodiversity may affect communication, recruitment, management and customer-facing services. Most importantly, we provide practical adjustments and approaches that can make a genuine difference.

Our aim is to help you better understand the natural diversity within your workforce and customer base. We focus on what people can bring, not just the barriers they may face, helping your organisation get the best from its people and deliver a more inclusive service to its customers.

What Participants Gain

Neurodiversity training can help reduce preventable stress and sickness absence by giving managers the confidence to recognise barriers, respond earlier and make effective adjustments. CIPD research found that one-third of neurodivergent employees felt their workplace experience had harmed their mental wellbeing, while 19% said it had negatively affected their intention to stay; separate research has linked employee happiness with around 12% higher productivity. Investing in a supportive workplace also makes commercial sense, with Deloitte estimating an average return of £4.70 for every £1 invested in employee mental health and wellbeing support.

Participants develop the knowledge, tools and confidence to:

  • Understand neurodiversity and how different minds may experience work, learning and relationships.
  • Recognise barriers linked to communication, processing, sensory needs, attention, energy and expectations.
  • Support individuals through better conversations, practical adjustments and inclusive environments.
  • Build greater self-awareness around stress, energy, emotions, behaviour and wellbeing.
  • Communicate needs more clearly and strengthen connections with others.
  • Become positive internal champions for neurodiversity, wellbeing and belonging.

SES

Stride worked with SES to deliver practical neurodiversity training, helping their team better understand different ways of thinking, communicating and working. The training focused on recognising individual strengths, reducing workplace barriers and making meaningful adjustments that support both employees and the wider organisation.

Following the training, SES successfully employed a Stride client, putting that learning into practice and creating an environment in which they could contribute, develop and thrive. This partnership demonstrates the positive impact that greater understanding, the right support and an inclusive approach can have for both employers and neurodivergent employees.

City & Guilds

Stride delivered practical neurodiversity training to City & Guilds, helping their team build a deeper understanding of how neurodivergent people may think, communicate, learn and process information differently.

The training gave staff greater confidence to recognise potential barriers, respond more effectively to individual needs and identify practical adjustments that could improve accessibility. It also encouraged the team to look beyond diagnosis, avoid assumptions and take a more person-centred approach when supporting colleagues and customers.

As a result, City & Guilds were better equipped to communicate inclusively, create more accessible experiences and apply their learning in everyday workplace situations. The training helped turn awareness into practical action, supporting a culture where different strengths and ways of working are better understood and valued.

Aston Villa FC

Stride worked with Aston Villa Football Club to deliver practical neurodiversity training, helping staff build a stronger understanding of how neurodivergent people may experience communication, busy environments, sensory demands and social interaction differently.

The training gave staff greater confidence to recognise potential barriers, respond to individual needs and make practical adjustments for supporters, participants and colleagues. It also encouraged a more person-centred approach, helping the team look beyond diagnosis and avoid making assumptions about what someone may need.

As a result, Aston Villa FC were better equipped to create more accessible and welcoming experiences, communicate more inclusively and apply their learning across everyday interactions. The training supported the club’s wider commitment to inclusion and helped turn awareness into meaningful action.

Testimonials

“The perfect balance of information – clear, engaging, interactive, and definitely not ‘Death by PowerPoint’. I felt seen and understood as a neurodivergent person, and it also helped me understand how I can better support both clients and colleagues.” Paul, Advanced Employment Hub, Doncaster Council
"I have had the pleasure of working with Stride Yorkshire in my journey to becoming a more inclusive employer. I knew I wanted to give adults with Autism a chance at working but was worried about my ability to support them. I was fearful of saying the wrong things, how they may manage criticism etc. Stride placed two fantastic candidates in my workplace as admin assistants, and I felt supported through the entire process, the job coaching was amazing, they took the pressure off massively from an employer's perspective." Dot, Trador Print Ltd
